VINCI UK Foundation Donates £10,000 to CEASC to Support Inclusive Athletics in East Cork

To support CEASC, the VINCI UK Foundation has donated £10,000 to help improve access and participation in athletics for young people and inclusive groups across East Cork.

Based in the Republic of Ireland, CEASC has received full funding for new specialist items, including a high jump mat, bar and associated equipment, which will enhance the facility’s capacity to support youth development and inclusive athletics. These resources will be used to improve the complex’s infrastructure and provide high-quality training and competition opportunities for local schools, athletics clubs and community groups.

Founded to address the lack of suitable athletic facilities in the region, CEASC is a volunteer-led organisation working in partnership with 11 local clubs, including Midleton Athletics, Cobh and Watergrasshill to name but a few. Its mission is to create an inclusive accessible and community-focused space that supports athletic development from grassroots to elite levels, while promoting physical health, mental wellbeing and social inclusion.

The new equipment will benefit approximately 10,000 school-going children in East Cork, as well as inclusive groups such as Special Olympics Ireland and other community organisations. By offering accessible athletics facilities, CEASC aims to inspire participation, nurture talent and build a supportive environment where individuals of all abilities can thrive.

“We are deeply grateful to the VINCI UK Foundation for its generous support. This funding represents a significant step towards our vision of creating an inclusive, high-quality athletics facility for the East Cork community. The new equipment will enhance opportunities for athletes and community groups of all abilities to train, compete, and develop in a safe and supportive environment. CEASC is committed to promoting participation, wellbeing, and inclusion through sport, and this contribution helps us bring that vision to life”, says, Sinead O’Driscoll, Secretary and Director, CLG, CEASC.

The project is sponsored by Philip Roche from Omexom, who became involved through his leadership role at CEASC and his long-standing commitment to youth sport. Philip is also a coach and Child Welfare Officer at Midleton Athletics Club, where he advocates for safe, inclusive and high-quality coaching for over 160 children. His passion for community sport and grassroots development aligns closely with the values of the VINCI UK Foundation.

“As both a coach and a parent, I’ve seen first-hand how access to good facilities can change lives. The VINCI UK Foundation’s support allows CEASC to create an environment where every child regardless of ability can develop, belong and succeed through athletics.” Says, Philip Roche, Health and Safety Advisor, Omexom Ireland.

The VINCI UK Foundation was founded in 2016 with the mission to strengthen communities by improving access to employment, housing and mobility for society’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

Since then, the VINCI UK Foundation has combined almost £2 million in financial support with the practical skills and expertise of VINCI employees to help over 330 charities or community projects championing social inclusion across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
