Incredible Careers: Robyn, Project Manager, Actemium UK

Hi Robyn, can you finish the following sentence: ‘My business is an incredible company to work for because…’

It is an incredible place to work because of its genuinely supportive culture. I’ve been encouraged and supported throughout my professional development, from joining on work experience, to being recruited as a planner and progressing to a qualified Project Manager and full member of the MAPM. Having that level of trust and investment has made a real difference to my growth and confidence.

Can you give us an example of a time where you have been supported to achieve your best in your career while with us?

Being nominated for the VINCI Energies Accelerator programme is a great example of how I’ve been supported to achieve my best. The programme offered structured learning, encouragement and practical tools that I’ve been able to apply directly in my role. This support has helped me develop professionally and broaden my skills.

VEUK is an organisation made up of incredible teams both large and small. Tell us about your incredible team and what it’s like to work with them…

Our team is approachable and welcoming and everyone is always ready to support one another when needed. There’s a strong team spirit that makes day to day work both productive and enjoyable. Because of the nature of my role, I also work with a wide range of project teams, which has given me the opportunity to build relationships with many different people across the company.

At VEUK and our associated businesses, we are transforming our world through the ‘digital and energy revolutions’. Please tell us how your (or your teams) contribution is helping us to achieve that goal…

Through my role, I support the digital and energy transformation by using AI-driven tools within project management to make planning, tracking and day to day administration more efficient. Alongside this, there’s a growing focus on evidencing sustainability measures across projects and I’ve been working with colleagues within our business unit to explore how we can better measure and report sustainability metrics, helping to support more responsible and informed project outcomes.

Finally, in 50-100 words, please tell us why you are proud to do what you do…

I’m proud of what I do because my role sits at the center of communication between teams and clients. It requires strong negotiation skills, effective stakeholder management and an understanding of contract management to balance expectations and deliver the right outcomes. I enjoy representing my team and working through the challenges that come with the role, particularly when managing differing priorities. These challenges keep the work engaging and make it rewarding to see projects progress successfully.
