Our environmental agenda at VINCI Energies UK & RoI goes way beyond decreasing our own carbon emissions. Through our diverse portfolio of services, we help clients to also become smarter and greener for the benefit of us all.

Let’s have a look at the specific technologies and services some of our entrepreneurial business units are providing to make this happen.

Omexom:

Omexom is our expert in services for electricity generation, transmission, and storage. The business units under this brand work with utilities and private operators to:

  • connect solar panels, wind turbines and other renewable energy sources to the grid;
  • install energy storage solutions to ensure the availability of renewable energy even when the sun isn’t shining, or the wind isn’t blowing; and
  • implement sensors and controls to make the grid ‘smarter’, more efficient, and more resilient.

These services enable a reliable transition from fossil fuels to zero-emission energy sources, while reducing consumption of energy overall.

Actemium

Actemium is the VINCI Energies brand dedicated to improving the performance of industrial processes, of which energy efficiency is one aspect. Actemium business units regularly carry out audits, and design and install equipment to help companies reduce their energy consumption. Actemium also guides companies through the process of installing workplace EV charging – to go electric with a commercial fleet and/or offer to employees – and dramatically cut their vehicle carbon emissions.

Actemium Automation

Actemium Automation designs, commissions, and programmes control systems for automated processes, which can be used to reduce waste and energy consumption in all manner of situations. Recently, the Business Unit has been experimenting with its own in-house internet of things (IoT) project to optimise the working environment at its Hampshire site. Sensors installed around the office and car park monitor parameters such as temperature and humidity, as well as the occupation of EV charging and regular parking spaces. Based on this data, visualised on an online portal in real time, management can take practical steps to limit environmental impact.

Axians

Our ICT brand Axians’ expertise in designing, installing, and maintaining high-capacity IT networks has come to the fore during the COVID-19 pandemic, as internet service providers, businesses, schools and universities have had to adapt to widespread homeworking. Axians has been busy supporting these organisations to boost bandwidth and create virtual workplaces with secure remote access, as well as reliable video conferencing and cloud collaboration. As life returns to some normality, the continued roll-out of Axians’ technologies can help businesses reduce unnecessary travel and, therefore, cut carbon emissions by providing employees with the digital infrastructure and tools to work effectively from anywhere.
