Incredible Careers: Sharon, Customer Success Manager, Axians UK

Meet Sharon, Customer Success Manager at Axians UK. Sharon joined the business three years ago after running her own consultancy for 13 years and now leads the Customer Success team while supporting quality initiatives across the business. We caught up with Sharon to learn more about her journey and what drives her in her role.

Hi Sharon, can you finish the following sentence: ‘My business is an incredible company to work for because…’

They are supportive in every way and enabled me to give back to my local community through the VINCI UK Foundation. I now have the privilege to work with a local charity and I spend time with them every month. Not many companies do that – they support them in new projects with money and time.

Can you give us an example of a time where you have been supported to achieve your best in your career while with us?

As a leader, I enable my team to be the best they can be, I encourage them to invest in themselves and that helps our business grow.

VEUK is an organisation made up of incredible teams both large and small. Tell us about your incredible team and what it’s like to work with them…

I lead a small team and together we support a wide range of customers. We work very closely with a real “one team” mindset – there’s no them and us. I actively encourage my team to get involved, broaden their knowledge and continue developing their expertise in Customer Success.

At VEUK and our associated businesses, we are transforming our world through the ‘digital and energy revolutions’. Please tell us how your (or your teams) contribution is helping us to achieve that goal…

I also wear the hat of Quality Manager at Axians UK, where I’m responsible for making sure we stay compliant with ISO 9001 and ISO 27001. We’re now working towards ISO 14001, which is new for us and focuses on environmental management, something that’s increasingly important in today’s climate, especially as our customers are asking more about sustainability. We share data with our customers on their power consumption to give them better visibility, help identify areas for improvement and support more sustainable decision-making.

Finally, in 50-100 words, please tell us why you are proud to do what you do…

Before joining Axians, I spent 13 years as a Director of my own company, delivering a wide range of consultancy services. I joined Axians three years ago and from the very start, I knew I had made the right decision. There was an immediate sense of connection and belonging that stood out to me, from then – I knew I was in a position to make a real difference.

I’m passionate about what my team deliver, real value to our customers. That’s what drives me. I also really value the opportunity to sponsor a charity through the VINCI UK Foundation. For me, it’s not just about financial support – it’s about community and meaningful involvement. I enjoy spending time with BHIVE, a charity based in Grantham, South Yorkshire and feel genuinely proud to support them and be part of that community.

We also have a graduate scheme at Axians UK, where graduates rotate across different areas of the business. I’m keen for new graduates to understand what our team does and how they can add value. I encourage them to work alongside us, engage with the team and speak directly with our customers so they can build confidence and gain real insight early in their careers.
