8 Business Units from VINCI Energies UK & RoI took part in the annual Dragon Boat race, raising an incredible £8,000 for the Shakespeare Hospice in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Yesterday, Sunday the 16th September, we were lucky to be joined on the river Avon by family members and friends, who took part in many races helping lead two of our teams into the final with our Twyver Tigers crowned as the overall winners of this year’s event.

It was a fantastic opportunity for team members from across the country to meet each other’s families and to get to know each other on a more personal basis.

This year was our biggest turnout yet as we are joined by new members of our ever-expanding family, with three additional teams. We were overjoyed to be able to raise more money than ever for the Shakespeare Hospice, with an incredible £8,000 donation which will help them to provide specialist palliative care of the highest standards for patients & their carers living with life limiting illnesses.

Our team here at Support office in Birmingham, have already promised to start training early for next year so that we can finally make it to the final (for once!). But we’re very proud of Actemium East-Midlands and Twyver for their great performance on the day.

Each Business Unit had a team of approximately 17 rowers who took part against a total 26 teams, with a minimum of 3 races each during the day. The fastest 6 teams throughout the day were called into a final race onto the Avon River.
