VINCI UK Foundation supports charity Giving World with £3,000 donation

The VINCI UK Foundation has donated over £3,000 to support Giving World – a charity dedicated to supporting those affected by poverty.

The VINCI UK has donated £3,000 to Giving World to strengthen their security features to help protect vulnerable adults.

Established in 2001, Giving World’s mission is protecting people from poverty by redistributing business’ brand-new surplus products to those in need. This initiative is not just about protecting people – it is also about protecting the world we live in with reducing landfill waste. With the redistribution of essentials such as shampoo, bedding, nappies, washing powder and warm clothes – vulnerable children and families, homeless people, those suffering with disabilities and the elderly are the ones who benefit the most from Giving World.

Sujata Sabharwal, Resources Director from Giving Worlds says “We are immensely grateful for funding from the VINCI UK Foundation to upgrade our CCTV. Each year we redistribute over 3m brand new business surplus products to vulnerable children, families, and individuals up and down the country. So, it is critical that our warehouse is secure. Without the sponsorship of Andrew and Lianne of Kelvin Power, this funding would not have been possible so a huge shout out to them both for their kindness and confidence in our work. Really looking forward to Andrew, Lianne and their teams joining us for a day of picking, packing, and sorting.”

In addition to the redistribution of essentials, the team also run a training skills programme for young people and adults with physical and mental health needs – they make excellent progress collectively to process products for redistribution.

In addition to the financial contribution, Giving World will receive the support of VINCI UK Foundation Sponsors, Andrew Smith and Lianne Hurst from Kelvin Power, who will support the charity by helping to create a roof over a small courtyard and help sort out stock for donations.

Andrew Smith, Senior CAD Technician says “It is great to see the funds going to such a great charity that provides support to such a great number of people. They have recently had security issues and even theft of donated items. Some of the donated funds are going to update the CCTV system to provide a more secure environment. It is good to know we are enabling this.”

Lianne Hurst, Finance Business Partner from Kelvin Power added “It is special to me to see this donation go to a charity that is local to our office and one that is based in my hometown. I think Giving World and the founder Sujata are amazing and I feel that they reach so many people in society that are in need. I am looking forward to visiting the charity with my team in November to help sort out some stock.”

The VINCI UK Foundation was founded in 2016 with the mission to strengthen communities by improving access to employment, housing, and mobility for society’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

Since then, the VINCI UK Foundation has combined almost £1.3 million in financial support with the practical skills and expertise of VINCI employees to help over 240 charities or community projects championing social inclusion across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
